How to be a heartbreaker?

Was listening to this and this question floated in my head... I wholeheartedly disapprove of heartbreaking as a past time. It is very unethical, as we all know. BUT from a purely psychological/sociological point of view, what makes someone a heartbreaker? Why are some attractive people doormats while other average looking ones total maneaters? Is it an attitude? Is it pheromones? I feel like this question has been under-researched because there are so many people who talk about picking up women but I never hear of women pick up artists. What do heartbreakers got that other ladies don't?!
