Friend is on bike tour, just got food poisoning. Needs place to stay in Portland, OR tonight. Hostels are full. He says he is not throwing up any more just has no energy. Anyone know any cheap hotels between downtown and north (he will be heading north as soon as he gets better).

Best answer: Try airbnb.com. There are a few places listed there (in Portland) that are in the same price range as hostels that don't seem as busy. One of them is actually set up as a hostel (bunk beds, etc.)

Best answer: Inn at the Convention Center would be a great place to feel shitty, because it is arguably the shittiest hotel in the city. Right across from the Convention Center on MLK in Northeast.

Best answer: Try warmshowers.org, like couch surfing but for touring cyclists. I'm sure there are tons of sympathetic places he can crash in Portland.

Response by poster: Thanks so much! I used the airbnb site and talked to someone at the Alberta Guesthouse. Alberta Guesthouse was actually booked but they gave me a reccomendation for another place in the neighborhood which is going to work. Thanks!
