How to take business further?

Where do I start to take my father's business to the next level?

A few days ago I told people on here I wished I could take over my uncle's restaurant and set up multiple locations. People told me, "Why not take over the grocery since you know more about that? Restaurant management is much different'. Today a customer inspired me by telling me about how I should take it to the next level. It was like a "sign" or something because he just asked, "Are you thinking big?" and gave me ideas of how I could take my father's grocery to the next level. He told me about a place called Jungle Jim's that's similar to my father's store except my father's store is on a MUCH smaller scale although we have been successful and locally famous for 30 years. This Jungle Jim's sells international food/wholesale/restaurant services in a county a couple hours away yet people still travel far to my father's store :) My family store is a THAI grocery but we have many other products like Hispanic, Jamaican, African, etc. because we have a lot of those ethnic groups in our area.

Jungle Jim's inspired me to turn my father's store into that. Go to www.junglejims.com
I want to build a concept similar to that but I have NO idea where to start! I think I have a good hand though because my father is already in the business AND I know about the grocery industry. I'm scared as sh!t to start a business and fail though =\ Our shop is a mom and pop shop and not fancy and super clean looking and up to date. I have a dream of turning it bigger and keeping it in a family business.

Although the concept has been done before...I'm thinking well if Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, and Giant Eagle are still successful yet the same concept...why can't our grocery do that too?
