Why do people have serious relationships so young nowadays?

Why do they?

I'm 20 and can safely say that I have never had a serious girlfriend. I know I am different since I like being alone at the moment and don't want one but after my first year of college I have been extremely surprised, not at the amount of people in relationships, but how serious or for want of a better phrase "grown up they are". This might be because I attended a rather hipstery liberal arts school but I honestly thought people my age would be having promiscuous sex more often, I mean these people act like they're in their 30's. They aren't going to concerts together or partying, it's all "Kieth and I are spending spring break at his Aunt's beach house after we finish scouting out 1 bedrooms for our study abroad". It's hard to explain but they just don't act how I thought people would at my age; I've never even introduced a girl to my parents. As much as I like to think that this is just a pretentious version of playing house and that I'm ahead of the curb having never really bought into the whole boyfriend girlfriend thing at my age (I'm not a virgin I just can't be bothered with the silly mind games teenagers play with each other) but I can't help but feel just a little insecure, they seem REALLY legit.
