I ran over our old cat in the driveway tonight and I killed the poor old thing. I feel terrible. What to do with his body? I want to bury him, but we rent so this place doesn't feel right. Pet cemetery people I googled look creepy and sort of ghoulish. I want this horrible experience to be as positive as possible for my wife and 8 year old daughter. I don't want to pass on his body. I don't know, What do you recommend?

Best answer: A veterinarian will know about pet cremation services. I think getting the ashes and having some ritual scattering or something like that would be good for helping your child assimilate this. \
I'm sorry for your loss, this was always my worst fear, when I had a cat who liked to hang around under and on and near the car.

Get him cremated and sprinkle his ashes somewhere that is meaningful to you? It's what my parents always did with our pets. (They uh had contacts in the funeral home industry, but I'm guessing there are vets or services that actually do pet cremations officially too.)
Alternatively, your vet can probably dispose of the body for you.
