I'm staying in a cabin in the woods (or hills? woody hills? pretty remote anyway) for a month. In Spain! What should I bring?
I'm not the best at remembering practical stuff. I have some pants and socks so far. Getting a Kindle. I have a notional 20kg limit above which I have to pay Easyjet another £28 but if you mention a lot of cool stuff like different kinds of towels I'll live large.

This post was deleted for the following reason: I'd love to believe this was just a poorly-thought-out question, but under the circumstances it's pinging the bullshit meter a little hard. -- cortex
Response by poster: Not sure. Basic stuff.
Need a new passport! See, this is working already.

Go to a marina or camping outlet and get a knot tying guide/game. Plenty of solo enjoyment time / space occupied.
That is if this question is directed at recreational things, which I'm unsure of.

You gotta find out what it has. Lets assume it has either electricity and/or fuel for cooking and/or heating.
Bring matches just in case the stove is not electric/electrically ignited.
Can opener, favorite pillow, binoculars, camera, pencils/pens/paper

Response by poster: Sorry. Question is directed at ALL POSSIBLE THINGS. I'm really not good at organising stuff.

Tooth Brush. If you have any special toothpaste needs, remote Spain may not provide easy access.
(Towels are pretty light, and not all that cool, but since you specifically asked about special towels, one of those hoody-towels?)
A pocket knife/whittling knife to make woodcrafts. If you don't speak Spanish, a phrase-book. Medications that you might take in a supply that lasts the length of the visit (or perhaps for a little longer, in case of lost, or delays).
Depending on the water situation, a pump-charcoal-filter (even if you have running water, this allows expeditions for which you could not carry enough water).
Fire lighting tool.

A basic cabin has walls and a roof. Does yours have more?
Does it have water? Food? A toilet? Bedding of any sort? Firewood?

You're not really providing much information. What's the laundry situation? Are you male or female? Are you cohabiting with others? How far from a city/town are you?
For one month you don't really need anything but a few changes of clothes and comfortable shoes.
If that's not the answer you're looking for, the other answer is "a lawyer who speaks fluent Spanish".

Response by poster: It has enough that I can live there for a month. No more than that. Not sure the laundry situation, I imagine I'll be handwashing stuff most days. Water, food and bedding are taken care of.

Overcoat
Hmm. I'm not sure this will be necessary because he's staying in a hilly wooded area and I'm told that the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.
Soap, shampoo. Razors. Deodorant. Toothbrush and toothpaste. A roll of toilet paper in case there's none when you get there.
Basically it sounds as though you're going to need to go into town shopping at some point if you have this much difficulty planning, and you will probably want to look somewhat presentable.

People's definitions of "basic" varies, is what we're getting at. For some people, saying "the cabin has basic stuff" means "it has firewood, a stove, and furniture", and for other people, "basic stuff" means "it has electricity and plumbing and a full pantry." When YOU say "basic stuff," what exactly do you mean?
That will help US help YOU.

Well, the one bag travel site is really quite good. I used this for a two week trip to Europe (and skipped a LOT of the stuff on his one page checklist) and I had more than enough.

More the first one: stove, furniture, water. No electricity.

You clearly checked something -- I"m assuming it's some kind of a brochure (or an email from a friend, or whatever) that states what this cabin has in the way of furnishings. Could you tell us the rest of what that brochure/email/whatever says?
Since we know you don't have electricity, "batteries" would seem to be something you'd need in quantity. That, and "battery-operated" electronic things.

Response by poster: That's honestly all I know.
Really, I would just like big lists of stuff, not just to take but also to remember to do, and then I'll pick the best bits and probably find about three things I definitely needed that I would've completely forgot.
