Am I strange?

Am I strange, or am I part of a new race of weird human beings who like all sorts of things? Or is this just the new norm?
Right, so, I read Game Informer - and Real Simple. A few of my favourite movies are The Matrix (the first one), I,Robot, MIB I and II, and Girl with a Pearl Earring. I like Assassin's Creed and Undergarden. I read the Chicago Tribune, CNN and LOLcats. Hell, I can even SPEAK LOLcat. I work retail, but I absolutely despise people.
Is this normal or weird or what? I'm 22, female, and have shorter hair than my boyfriend. Explain this to me.

This post was deleted for the following reason: All sorts of people have varyingly eclectic tastes and avocations and personal affectations, so short answer is you're normal. Beyond that there's not really an answerable question here; see the FAQ entry on chatfilter for more info. -- cortex
If you're asking why people are different from one another, then I think that's a question beyond even the scope of AskMe.

Are you actually a grandma writing in to complain about your granddaughter? Because nothing about what you wrote here sounds in the least bit odd. Especially working retail and despising people, or being a girl with short hair. Or liking LOLCats and also reading the newspaper. There's just nothing odd about any of it.

You like things. Some of these things are not like each other. You are not strange at all; I know very few people who don't read both humorous things (lolcats) and news online. I'm pretty sure just about everyone I know, when asked for their favorite movies, would list both "low-brow" sci-fi action flicks and "highbrow" artsy dramatic stuff. Certainly I would.
I have no idea what working retail and despising people has to do with anything, or why it's relevant that your boyfriend has longer hair than you do.

Your tastes are not as diverse as you think they are. Mainstream cinema in particular is engineered to appeal to as many people as possible, it is not unsurprising that you like a lot of it.

Also, one is often a consequence of the other.
