Please help me identify the guy who assaulted me in Vancouver, BC
Around 3AM on October 17th I stepped outside the Lamplighter club, ready to go home after having a great time there. As soon as I made a few steps, I heard a very rude remark made about myself. The remark came from behind so I turned around and asked them to clarify why they made the remark. At this point I realized that I was facing 7 males (6 white, 1 asian) who had no intention of apologizing.
After I spent a few minutes trying to defend my position, the asian male took out his phone and started filming me. I asked him to stop but he didn't listen. I decided to do the same and pulled out my phone - if anything happened, at least I would have all of their faces on camera.
I filmed each and every one of them and said "Alright. I got all of you?". At this point, the guy in the center said "Film me man. Yeah, you got me? You got me??" and landed the unexpected punch. Since I was looking at the camera when the punch landed, I had no time to react to it or deflect it. The punch knocked me out and I hit my head against concrete with full force.
After this point and for the next two hours, I do not remember anything. The first memory I have is of me covered in blood, being rolled in a wheelchair into a CT-scan room in St. Paul's Hospital. After a few minutes, they told me what happened and that I had a fractured sinus, concussion and facial lacerations.
A month has passed and I'm still having terrible headaches and experience dizziness almost constantly. The incident also left me with a permanent scar on my face.
The police cannot make any further progress until the guy is identified.

This post was deleted for the following reason: I'm sorry you had to go through that, but this is not something askme is intended to be used for. -- cortex
I'm sorry this happened to you but I'm pretty sure this isn't what metafilter is for. If you haven't already, you should post this to Vancouver's Craigslist in the rants and raves section. Good luck.

Sorry that this happened, but this is the wrong forum for this.
As an aside, before this gets deleted, it's not a smart policy to confront seven angry males by yourself, at 3 am, after drinking all night. Not excusing whatever it was that they said, nor their violent assault, but sometimes we need to pick our battles more strategically than this.

You can probably get a newspaper or TV news person interested in your story and they'll probably be found in a day. Good luck.

I'd take your original film and go frame by frame and try to get several clear still shots. Print them out and go back to the area and show the video and photos to bouncers/staff at any bars down there and see if they recognize the guy as a regular.
You might put an ad online with a photo, "I thought you were so sexy, but I never got your name! E-mail me at _____! --Love, Mandy" or something.
Alternatively, you may try to fiddle around on face.com, which indexes Facebook photos for facial recognition searches (not likely this will be useful, but maybe).
