Does anyone have a tried & tested way of getting curry stains out of clothing please?

Bombay Aloo to be precise, on a brand new and fairly expensive Ben Sherman polo shirt!

Hmmm... this Bombay Aloo seems to be a UK invention. We don't have anything like that over here. ;)

Try a lime wedge rubbed over the shirt, dry in the sun, and wash the good ol' way. So one of my aunts says anyway.

And never wear expensive clothes to Indian restaurants. :p

a little vinegar mixed with water should do the trick.

That's most likely turmeric causing the stain. New Scientist says to wash with methylated spirits (denatured alcohol) and leave in the sun. Washing with 3% hydrogen peroxide seems to be a popular method too.

I don't know if it helps with curry, but oxi-clean gets out more than you would think. Think bleach without killing the colors.

Don't put anything on it. Take it to the drycleaners. When you put water or lemon juice or otherwise dampen the fabric, the fibers absorb the liquid and the stain; the water can also dilute and spread the stain to a larger area.
