Please help me get a new job!

Can't stand my job anymore, and need advice.
Due to my lack of drive, passion, or goal oriented character, after college, I took a job in a group home, an never left. I'm now an administrator for a for-profit residential provider for adults with developmental disabilities. I supervise about 60 people, and oversee the care of 30. I'm on call all the time and its a lot of stress and pressure, and I'm miserable. I really want to do something else, I just don't know what to do. I know I wouldn't want sales, nursing, teaching.
I'm 40, married with two young children, my bachelors is in biology, and I have 13 years experience in this field, most of it in administration. I'm adequately smart, organized, don't mind paperwork, have basic computer skills. I have a small amount of debt, besides the mortgage. I now earn in the mid 40s, and ideally my new job wouldn't be too much less.
I realize I might have to go back to school, take on more debt, etc. I'd need to strategize the transition, considering finances etc... I'm sorry! know this question is broad! I was kinda wondering about being an ultrasound technician, but I'll take any suggestions or guidance you can give!
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for you suggestions.

What Color Is Your Parachute is the classic book for this kind of situation! It's actually really good at describing how to transition from one career to another in the most painless way possible. Who knows, you may even end up making more money.

Any chance you can find yourself a career coach to work with? I used one a few years back and found the experience invaluable. Or can you find an online vocational evaluation test to help you figure out what you might be suited for?

untrue! you're already a qualified manager of a big group of people, there are bound to be companies looking for someone with your skill set and track record. have you talked to a career coach yet? or a recruiter?

Unless you're looking for a total break from what you've been doing, it seems your marketable skills are for some form of management, which isn't bad, being 40 (the responsible age). As for what to manage, that seems to be the question.
