Google Wave. What is it? Do I care? Thanks.
This post was deleted for the following reason: "why should I care" questions without a little "this is what I know" tossed in aren't really great for AskMe -- jessamyn
Best answer: This was covered yesterday, with over 100 comments.

Google Wave is a new app from the people at Google. It is described here, here, and here.
You do not care, because you have not read any of the tonnes of descriptions of it on your own initiative, which makes this question a little strange.
Or mayb e I have misunderstood the question?

Response by poster: My apologies. I looked for this before I posted it, but didn't find the previous discussion. My mistake. Please don't hate me.

Well, to be fair, it's not entirely certain you're going to find the answer to either of your questions in that thread either.

Mod note: A few comments removed. You don't have to answer the question if you don't like it, folks.

Do I care
Possibly, but you don't have to care right now. The thing about social apps is that even if you don't use them, people in your various circles (work, friends, industry) will, so at some point you probably will have to care and install it and learn it.

Google Wave is not as far along as most of the stuff Google announces, and I think that amply justifies the tone of this question.
I suspect Google trumpeted this bit of vaporware at this moment to mute the press response to Microsoft's Bing.
