What Internet memes will go mainstream in 2009?
The author of XKCD asked this in the alt text to this comic. In 2007 it was LOLcats and Rickrolling, both of which peaked this year. 2008 popularized FAIL and the mockery of Scientology.
My money's on "Yo Dawg" thanks to its pop culture appeal and the richness of possible variations. (For noobs: The "Yo Dawg" parodies of Xzibit's show "Pimp My Ride" started with this. Xzibit's fans love it.)
XKCD also suggests "I accidentally the whole _." I think "FFFFFFUUUUUU" Guy has a better shot. But we definitely won't see Pedobear or Rule 34.
