Search for mp3 on Google

My google-fu has left me.

Once, long ago, I found a web page (a weblog entry?) that described how one might search for mp3s (or other media files) via google, by asking google to reveal all mp3 files hosted in the index of a directory on an Apache-based web server. I can't remember how to do this.

Can anyone help me remember this trick? Direct me to the page that talks about it so that I can bookmark it permanently?

Do you mean:
intitle:index.of? mp3
If I find a page describing it, I'll let you know...

That's good for any kind of filetype, of course. Here's a page describing it, though not the one I remember as it's dated last week sometime.

It's index apache mp3 name of band, and it was first seen on Davezilla, methinks.

Ooo. Davezilla found it via machaus. By the way, it only works if you use google.

NB, it doesn't work so well anymore and a lot of MP3 junk sites (they need a name for all those fake MP3 and warez sites that just generates ads) put that somewhere. It worked well when I first found it out, then I'm sure people secured their sites a little better.

It's not Google, but you might also want to try Altavista's mp3 search.
