Xbox Live but not 360

Xbox Live : So finally got around to setting my original Xbox up for Xbox Live and have got a 2 months trial subscription. Have successfully tried PGR2 & Halo 2 so far. Looking for suggestions of other games.

Are there any strategy games (Desert Storm etc.). Also looking for what are the popular games with Live?

Battlefield 2 and Perfect Dark Zero are what my son and his friends are crazy about right now. You'll find lots of players when you log on to either one, although no where near as many as when you log on to Halo 2. Star Wars Battlefront always has lots of players as well.

This list is pretty current, not sure which can and cannot be played on a regular Xbox:

1) Halo 2
2) Call of Duty 2
3) Perfect Dark Zero
4) Dead or Alive 4
5) PGR3
6) Need for Speed Most Wanted
7) Battlefield 2: MC
8) Madden NFL 06
9) Full Auto Demo
10) Madden NFL 2006

"Battlefield 2 and Perfect Dark Zero are what my son and his friends are crazy about right now."

Perfect Dark Zero is an Xbox 360 game - that list is a mix of Xbox and Xbox 360 games.

I know the list is a mix, that's why I said "not sure which can and cannot be played on a regular Xbox". My mistake about Perfect Dark though...he plays it at a friend's house and I thought the friend had a regular Xbox.

Burnout Revenge. When you absolutely, positively must experience the best of Live.

I've noticed that style and experience change on halo2 as you go up levels... and the higher your level the more team work, humor, and cunning you see... it can almost be a different game...

The most popular Xbox 1 Live games last week were:

1 Halo 2
2 Battlefield 2: MC
3 Counter-Strike
4 Splinter Cell Chaos
5 Rainbow Six 3 BA
6 Pro Evolution Soccer 5
7 Star Wars: Battlfrnt 2
8 Madden NFL 2006
9 Forza Motorsport
10 Splinter Cell Chaos

Major Nelson updates this list every week. In general, it's a really good Xbox blog (though it's mostly about the 360).

While I love the Burnout games, their online implementation is pretty... well, terrible, in my experience.

My recommendations from that list would be Battlefield and Rainbow 6. They aren't your typical deathmatch-only shooters. I unfortunately don't have any strategy game suggestions for you.

Burnout Revenge online is the GREATEST.

Halo II, of course

NCAA 07 is the best football game to date. i havent taken it out of my systems (360/ps2) since it came out.

You have to be careful about buying a game for multiplayer. Most of them have a large population when they first come out and then drop off rapidly. The exceptions, as the top 10 list shows, tend to be the big name, Triple A titles. Smaller games, such as Crimson Skies or any sports game that is not the latest iteration, tend to be ghost towns.

Halo 2 and Battlefield 2 have people playing no matter what time of day you log in.

Xmen Legends 2. Play it with friends over Live (don't count on random peeps). It's awesome.
