How come it's clear? (do you see what I did there)

NSFW question about male orgasms.

In porn - both the "real" stuff and the user-made stuff like on gonewild - you can see the guy coming, because it's white. it contrasts against the skin of the person it lands on.

When I come on my lady, it's almost totally clear. Like, you can see it but you've gotta really look.

Is this a diet thing? Are all guys different in regards to this? (Like, is that one of the requirements of being in porn, that your stuff is white?) Or is it lighting?

(We have kids, so I know my stuff isn't "bad," FWIW.)

I've only ever seen that really white stuff from one 'real' guy, and I think it may have been due to him drinking a lot of protein shakes... (that was my guess anyway).

The only time I've ever been clear has been right around orgasm number 4 in a day. (And it's a busy day...)

Even a man with a vasectomy has white ejaculate.

See a doctor.

Mine varies, I assume with diet. My guess is that pornjaculate is frequently artificially opaque so it shows up on screen better.

For what it's worth, I have frequently read that the "stuff" in porn is often faked (example, another, nsfw unless you work at the sperm bank). My own stuff varies in color from mostly clear to kind of milky, maybe depending on diet or the weather or something, but never looks like the mayonnaise-esque jizz you sometimes see in porn.

If you look at amateur photos of jizz on people, it tends to look pretty much clear, not like mayo at all. I will put two enormously NSFW links in a separate answer (in case they are too nsfw for here and need to be deleted) that show spooge that looks normal to me, not like the white stuff from mainstream porn.

i have been with a fair number of men, more than most i'd wager, and semen is so personal and so different across the board. sometimes it's thick and white, sometimes it's more clear - sometimes a guy cums neatly with a lack of force, sometimes a guy can manage to shoot over your shoulder to the wall behind you. with each guy it can be affected by diet and exercise and lifestyle, but i've never seen someone dramatically change the makeup of their semen. you can make it a little whiter or a little clearer, but you're not going to go from totally clear to white.

also, some of it is lighting, have you tried photographing your semen on your lady? it might look different than it does to the naked (haha) eye.

finally, a lot of people fake cum shots. a little cetaphil or conditioner and lube and you get a pretty realistic looking product that's great for photographs.

on preview, i disagree with CarlRossi - sure, mention it to your doctor if you're worried, but there is nothing at all weird about clear ejaculate.

NSFW sample photos (found in a few moments on Redit): one, two.

Did I mention NSFW?

Ejaculate contains spermatozoa (microscopic cells), seminal plasma, and prostate fluid. Seminal plasma is made from cellular membrane structures in your reproductive tract, and like all functional fluids in your body, is derived from how specialized cells metabolize and secrete products from your blood. Variations of pearly translucent colors is normal and can be influenced by diet, anatomical/genetic differences, sperm counts, age, time of day, level of arousal, hydration--all the things that influence the normal range of colors and textures in other functional body fluids (likes spit). Texture and consistency is also influenced by the above, but generally, fresh ejaculate has a more gelled texture that thins out over 10-30 minutes. Colors outside of pearly translucent ranges (which may include very translucent ejaculate--and thing is, you describe something clear that someone else may observe as more pearly) or very thick or watery textures may indicate a problem in the reproductive tract (like pinkness usually indicates blood).

Production of seminal fluid lags behind the production of prostate fluid, and prostate fluid is thinner and more clear. So subsequent ejaculates over hours or a day may be much thinner and more clear--with lower spermatozoa loads.

A "typical" ejaculate, then, is about a teaspoon of pearly translucent fluid that initially gels and then thins into a runny fluid. But like all bodily fluids, there is an acceptable range of normal versus a universal product.

Always, if you're concerned, if there has been a change, if you have pain or nagging signs and symptoms of illness, see your provider and talk about it.

I'm not any kind of urologist or men's health provider or reproductive specialist, but it turns out that in pediatrics, teenage boys ask about this kind of thing (ha!)

Uhh..... What colour is your wife?

I'm really pale, and when my husband comes on me, it just blends right in. But when he gets it on himself, it's definitely white (he's brown).

hydration is absolutely a factor.

I've found stuff is much less clear, more white the longer it has been since it has been, and since porn stars (usually) have to "save it" and "hold it in", the color in porn makes sense.

Semen in porn is often faked. Porn is as good for sex ex as Star Trek is for physics.

Agreeing with the hydration issue. Semen is usually about 90% water, so if it looks close to water, that's understandable. Most the remaining 10% is sugar, which is also clear (when dissolved in water).

An incredibly small percent is made of of various proteins and vitamins, which can vary in presence and abundance from male to male based on diet and health.

Coming in with the people who say - don't worry about it. It probably just means you're well-hydrated and healthy.
