Robocall from "Justice for All"

Just got a robo call on my cell phone from an organization calling themselves "Justice for All." They support the Occupy movement, as I do, but I don't want them calling me anymore and using up my cellphone minutes. Their number came up as "Unavailable." Can't find anything about them via Google. Anyone heard of them, and know how to reach them? I want to tell them to take me off their call list. (I'm already on the National Do Not Call registry.)

My gut reaction? False flag operation from funded political operatives to discredit OWS and piss off call recipients. I can't find anything resembling an OWS "Justice for All" org yet.

I know two organizations named Justice For All. One fights against reproductive rights for women and the other one advocates for increased use of the death penalty. You're probably going to have a hard time finding this group, if it is even legitimate.

Personally, I let private calls go straight to voicemail.

I'm believe robocalls to cellphones are illegal in all cases.

I think "Edogy" has it right. This has a strong whiff of a fake org trying to bring OWS down, not help them out.

Heck, while I agree with Edogy that this outfit probably has nothing to do with OWS, my guess is that it's actually UNpolitical --- just your basic boiler-room scam using OWS to steal from gullible people's wasllets.

No legitimate organization with the resources to run robo-calls doesn't have a website.

"Justice for All" is a slogan sometimes used by the union SEIU, but only really internally. I'm certain this isn't them, and I agree with the idea that it's just a vague phrase that's been picked for some less than OWS related purpose. Did they ask for money? What was the content of the call?

this is lots of good advice for what those calls may be like.

I've gotten robocalls before, and I always handle them in the same way:

"This is a private Department of Defense number. How did you get this number, and what is your full name?"

Most callers hate giving out their info, and the DOD connection will scare them They usually hang up and stop bothering me.

**NOTE: When I do this, it actually IS a DOD line. YMMv**

We also received this call on our landline (we're required to have one by my husband's job) which is also registered on the Do Not Call list. I googled for information about them but I haven't come up with anything either.

According to my husband, who took the call, they did not ask for money. The call seemed to be a standard political robocall type thing with the support going to OWS instead of a proposition on the ballot or a candidate.

political calls, charity, and surveys are exempt from the Federal Do Not Call List, so it's not a violation.

As they didn't ask for money or support or suggest any action, I'm not sure how effective it will be.

OK, now the plot is getting thicker. I got a message from these people on my landline last night. No contact info and CID said "Unknown Number." Definitely a false flag op.

We just got another one and CID also said "unknown number".

11/01, I just got one of these robocalls on a landline here in California. Not asking for money, no identification of the alleged "Justice for All" group, no contact info, no specifics. So it's some kind of scam, and the robocall IS illegal if the source isn't identified, but it doesn't appear to accomplish anything except maybe annoy a few people and perplex others. Seems like an unusually pointless prank.

We just got another call from Justice for all on a different subject (anti Bank of America, claiming they want a secret bailout and telling us to call our representatives to keep BOA from getting it.). They may not be following the rules for candidate calls, but they may not have to identify themselves if they're not endorsing a candidate, which they're not. So I don't know other than now I'm pretty sure they're not a prank and probably aren't a false flag.

robocall laws are a patchwork of different requirements in different states, with some having much stricter rules than others (according to Wikipedia).

Political speech is hard to regulate, and this is clearly such. I'm not sure how much any state would want to try to enforce the constitutionality of their anti-robocall laws for political purposes.

Also, it might well provide vast amounts of free publicity as "news" that the callers couldn't otherwise get/afford.

Mad: They are crappy calls, nobody's getting any news from them.

Just received another, different one. No identification.
