Does anyone know the name of a SciFi book that involves computers, rubber golves, and AIDS?

Once I read a story about people who could give a disease to computers. Or possibly they could catch this disease through the keyboard. Citizens with this disease, I vaguely recall, were not allowed to use computers without rubber gloves. If you had AIDS or HIV you were protected and allowed unrestricted access to computer keyboards. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

The protagonist may have been a social outcast or a criminal on the run from the law. I believe he hooks up with an older, possibly rich woman whom he believes has AIDS or HIV and is protected from this disease he is infected with. During the course of the book a lot of government oppression/social problems are uncovered and/or fought against. I read this book about ten years ago and I'm almost positive it was checked out from my public library (which is quite small, so the book can't be that unpopular). I've tried searching Amazon, Google, and that SciFi book finder, but I can't seem to hit the right combination of keywords. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Response by poster: So I am the only one who has read this book. Makes me feel kinda lonely.

Or did I make it all up in a dream?
