The rain in Jamaica Plain falls almost every day

How many days has it rained in Boston since June 1st? It feels like it's been raining almost constantly all summer.

I'm looking for the actual number of days there's been at least some precipitation. Hopefully someone knows the magical formula for figuring that out. Thanks!

Best answer: You can get daily observation data (one month at a time) here:
https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=box

You'd have to tally the count of days with precip yourself, though.

Best answer: Blue Hills Observatory has detailed weather data available - each month has report with a little box at the bottom that says how many days there was 0.01 inch or more of precipitation (August had 12). The observatory also notes that 2023 had the seventh-wettest summer on record (although 2021 was very close).

I'm sure the same type of records exist for e.g. Logan Airport but I can't find them in as nice of a format.

Response by poster: Thank you, mskyle. I should have thought of the Blue Hills weather station. I have been there, and is well worth a visit.

From their monthly summaries I see

June: 17 days of rain
July: 12 days
August: 12 days
Total: 41 days of rain out of 92 total days. So not quite 50%, but pretty close. From the NOAA website, it looks like September has had 11 days of rain out 25 so far this month. So about the same.

Also, the "weekend effect" is in full force: it rained 9 of the 14 weekend days since June 1st, according to WBZ meteorologists.
