Infectious disease books?

What are the best recent books on emerging infectious diseases?

I recently read The Coming Plague (1994) but the suggestions the author made for handling future public health crises were outdated. Are there any recent books that make practical suggestions for how we should respond to future pandemics?

Biosecurity Interventions: Global Health & Security in Question is what you're looking for, I think.

another suggestion: Infectious Disease: A Scientific American Reader provides an excellent overview of the current research & possible strategies for dealing with pandemics.

Laurie Garrett has a more recent book, Betrayal of Trust, which is from 2001. Definitely recommend.

This TED talk by Nathan Wolfe is about how his project is attempting to find pandemics at the points where they cross from animals to humans in the third world.
