Does anyone know if the Frying Pan is having its annual Halloween party this year?

Ok, for the past two years I've gone to this amazing party at the Frying Pan, off the Chelsea piers in NYC. Each year i find out about it at the very last minute, through a friend of a friend of a friend. This year i havent heard anything. Does anyone know if it's happening this year? It was so much fun last year and I'd love to go again.

I'm not sure. There are major changes afoot around there right now, and I believe the Frying Pan is going to move, if it hasn't already, to Pier 66, a few blocks north. I don't know for sure whether or not this will happen/has happened before next week.

At Citysearch, it's listed as "temporarily closed", but I have no idea how current that information is.

Their official website doesn't say anything, but who knows when it was last updated. You could try emailing them at info@fryingpan.com .

Trying to get a real answer out of all these uncertainties: I'd say call your friend and ask them to call their friend and ask them to ask their friend, before you head over there.

I've had a few parties at the Frying Pan. Last year they called a week before Halloween asking if we would have a party there. usually it's a decent investment on the part of the party-thrower to throw somehting there, though they were willing to waive the fee for a % of the door.

John Crevey (the proprietor of the FP) can be a bit of a space cadet at times and the website is definitely not updated frequently.

It's pretty much a crapshoot as to what's there on any given night unless you specifically know of something going on.

yes, the frying pan is closed.

my sources tell me this:
the whole pier is moving and will become part of the park. the frying pan may reopen on the piers new location but it will not be the same since it will be under the parks rules. this means it will have to close at two..no more all nighters at the pan...and there will be other changes so it remains to be seen what will happen.

It was definitely closed when I went by there a couple of weeks ago.
