Podcasts for Writers

Can any of you recommend any good podcasts for writers? I'm thinking specifically for freelance writers, creative writing, magazine writers, editors, etc.

(I'd like to round up these recommendations for the freelancing blog I edit--MBToolBox.com, so let me know if you'd like me to credit you with your reco. Thanks!)

If you're interested in screenwriting, you might be into the podcasts put out by the folks at Creative Screenwriting Magazine -- they're mostly of Q & A discussions they hold with screenwriters of recent releases. Recent writer(s) they've had on include the writers of Capote, Transamerica, Brick, MI:3, The Devil Wears Prada, etc.

Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac comes to mind. It's not only a good podcast for writers, but probably the best and most worthwhile five minutes one can listen to nowadays.

I would recommend KCRW's Bookworm with Michael Silverblatt. He is probably the best interviewer of writers I've heard.

I don't think there are any that specifically give hints for work and so forth. Only those that really get at the heart of interviews with authors and so forth. I'd personally love to see a podcast with someone telling us exactly what shit they had to go through to get their work out of the heads, onto paper, to an agent, and finally to a publisher. Any suggestions for that?

Creative Screenwriting can be very insightful into both the writing process and the post-writing process -- dealing with editors, etc., albeit in a steroidal way that's probably greatly unlike other writer/editor relationships. But listening to it does feel like writers talking about their craft more than about Hollywood tomfoolery.

Two podcasts for creative writing (in both cases, sci-fi/fantasy, but most of the content is about creative writing in general) are The Secrets and I Should be Writing. Both have forums which offer some workshopping of pieces and whatnot.

I can't really vouch for the latter one, but the former one is quite good, IMVHO.

Sam and Jim go to Hollywood

"We're two writers trying to find our next break. Our show is about writing, Hollywood and our experiences on the way to...we wish we knew what."

When this podcast first started and before my iPod got stolen, I was a pretty regular listener.
