Please recommend good current (Δ<=5y) heavy metal / hard rock.

Pro Music Searching Tip 1: MrDoom666 on youtube uploads excessive amounts of music, mostly in rock/hard rock/metal/doom/indie categories. I've found probably 6 to 10 just by a day of looking at their uploads.
Pro Music Searching Tip 2: YouTube in a PRIVATE window is the way to get the algorithm to actually recommend things based on what you are watching. It won't work if you're logged in or in a regular window because it wants to override the natural algorithm with subscriptions. Private window YouTube surfing is something we spend an evening doing.

Snail Mail has some great sort of modern classic rock. Idk if it's hard enough for this purpose but she rocks and makes me think the kids are alright.

Wormrot (Singapore) - Hiss (2022) - Grindcore and beyond
YATRA (Maryland) - Born into Chaos (2022) - really solid death metal. Their early Death Ritual (2019) is very classic doom
RLYR - s/t (2022) - instrumental rock a la Russian Circles and Pelican, of which this band shares members
Hath (NJ) - All That Was Promised (2022) - not sure what genre(s) this metal is but it is heavy and interesting and good

WARGASM is a girl/boy 2 piece (3 really but drummer gets no love).
they've put several more tunes out since i made that FPP. their collab with Enter Shikari just came out last week.

If you count punk as a sub-genre of hard rock, you’ll want to check out Destroy Boys, who despite the name are fronted by a woman. The song that hooked me was “I Threw Glass at My Friend’s Eyes And Now I’m On Probation” but everything of theirs is fantastic.

Screaming Females latest album Singles Too is from 2019, so maybe not “new” but pretty great nonetheless.

I tend to lean more towards the symphonic/folk/power side of metal, but hopefully those subgenres count as heavy.
Not female fronted but I've gotta plug Bloodywood first. They just rock too hard. They're a metal band from India that got there start doing metal covers of meme-y pop songs and then started recording their own music and releasing a bunch of fantastic singles and now have an album out and you should listen to see if it's your thing.
As for female vocalists, Melissa Bonny is awesome! Honestly I though the recent Ad Infinitum album was a little low energy, but the stuff she did as part of Rage of Light was great, and she's been doing guest vocals on a ton of stuff recently.
I almost feel bad linking this single Seraphiel - Heretic because it's the only recording of this particular vocalist getting to do her thing properly that has been produced in the last decade. But it deserves way more listens than it has and it rocks.
Not female fronted, but bands I've also been listening to a lot over the last couple years are Alien Weaponry and Zeal and Ardor.

Lately I’ve been loving Venom Prison. Their lead vocalist is a woman; I don’t know much about metal genres but I guess they’re death metal.
Defy the Tyrant and Judges of the Underworld are my favorite songs of theirs, though if I had to pick one album it would be Primeval from 2020.

Here to second Zeal and Ardor, who I recently discovered and have devoured over the last few months. The most interesting description of their music I've read was basically "what if the Africans brought to America as slaves had taken up satanism rather than christianity". Dark and heavy blues influenced metal. My fav: The Church Burns

BIG|BRAVE - phenomenal female-fronted doom
SubRosa - electric cello ladies of doom with a spectacularly grand and mythic presentation, sadly split up a few years back but is still absolutely worth investigating as all of their albums are stuffed with wonder
Mutoid Man - the album War Moans was right at the 5 year mark but goddamn is it excellent rocking metal with delicious juicy riffs in every track and spectacular sing-along vox that everyone can love
BACKXWASH - hip-hop that runs thick in a black metal vibe, the newest album is amazing all the way through
Cult of Luna / Julie Christmas - just outside the 5 year window, but an awesome teamup that combines CoL's tremendous build of thundering moody metal with Julie's wild vocal range
Carpenter Brut - their last two albums (Leather Teeth / Leather Terror) melded CBs background as a horror synthwave maestro with a new vision of 80's / 90's metal - Beware the Beast is an excellent ode to buttrocking with the Devil
And of course Zeal and Ardor - every album is amazing, I love the first's rawness but he does great work with the newer more polished and produced sound as well
