Inheriting a PS4

I fixed a PS5 for my bro, and in return am getting his PS4, sweet! Now my bro has a bunch of PS4 digital downloads and I am presently playing away on my guest account on his machine, using all this content. I can keep doing that right?

There’s nothing to stop us keeping doing that when I go back to my place right? Can I get his password and keep downloading free stuff from PSN+ network etc to the PS4? For the record I have no interest in having my own PSN+ account or being a big time PS4 person, imma play SotC and Last of Us, same as I ever did.

Yes, I play on a PS5 in one location and a PS4 on another and do exactly this. There might be an issue of two people using one account playing on both devices simultaneously, though. Otherwise I think you should be fine.

There are a couple of things going on here:
- Your guest account on the PS4: all data associated with the guest account will be deleted when the guest account logs out
- Your friend being logged into a PS4 and PS5 at the same time: this is possible, but will limit the types of games your friend can play on the PS5 if you are playing simultaneously.

Response by poster: This is great info thanks! I should perhaps specify I am logged in on my own play station (not PSN+) account and so far my save games from this summer and so on are still there.

Best answer: all downloaded ps4 games have an owner - the account that downloaded it from the store. each account also has a “primary” ps4. on an account’s primary ps4, other accounts can play all the downloaded games. and yes you can login to that account and use all its stuff too (as a sony employee, i need to mention that doing this could get your bro’s account revoked).

but if your bro get’s another ps4 and marks it as their primary one, then the games on your ps4 will be unplayable unless you login as your bro.
