Stock Market Simulation

I'm working with a high school Economics teacher. He has asked that I find a site where we can run a stock market simulation for the students. Each team will have $100,000 to invest between Tuesday, and May 29th. My big concern is that this not turn into a massive pile of papers that is impossible to manage. Have any teachers done this before? What is the easiest way to manage stock market simulations? Do you have web sites that make it easier? Thank you for your time!

Best answer: Investopedia is a popular simulator site that lets you create your own private contests (screenshot) -- you can specify starting capital and end dates, as well as other more advanced options.

Best answer: There are quite a few if you google them. I've worked with the Stock Market Game and my students really enjoyed How the Market Works.

I could be totally off base, but there's https://www.quantopian.com/ - it allows you to write some investment bots and do backtracing on real data. The results could probably be used for grading etc.

Best answer: I don't know if this fits your needs, but The Stock Market Game is a common tool used by school economics classes.

My high school econ class used the Hollywod Stock Exchange, which trades virtual shares in actors and box office returns. Might be more interesting/fun than a generic business stock market sim.

Also Google spreadsheets allows you to do a stock ticker value lookup in a cell or formula so rolling your own isn't very hard either.
