Advice on rent increase in Cambridge, MA, USA.
My current lease is expiring at the end of this month. I've heard through a neighbor that the landlord is increasing the rent substantially for the tenants in the building, but he has not spoken to me yet (we've missed each other a few times).
Are there any limitations on how much the rent can be increased by, if an old lease is expiring? I would like to continue to live where I do, but not if the price increases by 50%. The new lease will be due to be signed at the beginning of September.

The link phoenixy provided above says otherwise. Rent control has been gone for a long time.

My response was to the OP's question - as in, no, there are no limitation on rent increases in MA.

A rental increase may be any amount the landlord wishes to charge.
