Internet Service in Boulder, CO?

Edward Jr. is looking to set up internet service (dsl or cable) in a portion of a house in Boulder, CO (He is a CU student). The house is divided into 4 units in a haphazard manner. His is just identified as House 2. Comcast has not been helpful saying that there is already service to that residence (probably in one of the other units). Any recommendations?

Honestly, screw Comcast out of the money and have him share the one that's already there. I don't know anyone who would complain about paying less for stuff.

Yeah, talk to the dude about getting a router, and dropping a line to your unit, and splitting the bill. Just make sure he understands if he is on their triple-play package or something like that, that you only want to split the bill for the internet portion of that bill, not his phone and TV service as well.

I wonder if you could talk the landlord into getting a commercial DSL or ISDN line and paying for it out by increasing the rent to cover the cost.

It might be something that costs a little to have installed and cost more but provide more bandwidth, lower pings, and more reliability while still being reasonable after being split four ways. Something like a T-1 line would certainly be way too expensive but there are a lot of options between cable and T-1.

Heck, maybe you could find some other service that would let the tenants get better service for less money and let the landlord build in some profit so that you both win. Without know exactly where service would be going in I can't really do the research for you but it might be worth looking into.

There has to be some other mefites out there who know more about this stuff than I do and can hopefully chime in to you know if this is an option worth exploring.
