Getting rid of those images in email signatures

I receive a lot of emails that include a small image as part of the signature. These emails show up as having attachments. How could I automatically delete these images or change the attachment indicator to not trigger on files <10kb? (using mail.app on Snow Leopard)

Attachments are attachments.

A lot of these images will be used by email tracking services (wikipedia)

Sloppy answer. Attached images cannot be used to track you. HTML links to hosted images can.

I think the OP is talking about people who have little corporate logos (or the like) embedded in their signatures, which can sometimes show up as attachments in Outlook or other mail clients. (Though correct me if I'm wrong.) This is indeed a frustrating problem, because then I'm always looking for the "real" attachment (a Word doc, whatever) that isn't there.

It'd theoretically be possible to set the color of the email to something different if it contains an attachment less than 10KB.

Even more theoretically, it'd be possible to delete the images, but the attachment indicator would still be triggered.

47triple2 has a great idea. But Mail.app (at least at version 4.2 for Snow Leopard) doesn't have a way to create rules based on attachment size, only attachment name. Dammit! I struggle with this all the time as well, and I'd love a good answer!

Well, what I would do is create an applescript that would run every time there is an attachment. The script would check for attachment size (if possible) and change the color of the message.

Best answer: This thread looks promising.

Response by poster: Conrad is right. Sorry I didn't explain it well. Those annoying little logos that skew attachment results. I've considered an applescript and other rules as well, but I'm not a scripter and 47triple2 points out that mail.app doesn't allow rules based on file size. But the thread 47 caught does look promising. Sorry I missed it during my search.

I am convinced these are the attachments that Buddha was railing against.
