Colorado Conundrum

After 40+ years in Colorado, I don't know where to go... for spring break. Help me figure out our last-minute-low-cost-something-new vacation plan!
Here's the scoop...
1. It's zero-hour on spring break (next week).
2. Jetting to somewhere new and fun.... is out ($).
3. We have Thurs-Sunday next week to do something great... as long as it's relatively local.
4. We're in Denver.
5. I've lived in Colorado for almost half a century, so nuthin' 'round here sounds very thrilling to me (sad, I know).
6. Mrs. Corrocio and Little Corrocio (11) really want to do SOMETHING for spring break.
7. Budget ain't so high this year... say under a grand.
8. We ski, but I'd like something else
9. Stay-cation.... sucks

What's an old Coloradoan to do?
1) Southwest Airlines to Arizona and Texas is cheap. Phoenix, Houston, South Padre Island?
2) Alternately, you could go Pacific Northwest in Portland or Seattle.
3) Amtrak to San Francisco!

Leadville or Steamboat Springs? I know the chances are you've been there, done that, but still fun and different.

There are lots of options in northern New Mexico—Taos, Red River, etc. if you feel outdoorsy, Santa Fe you're feeling indoorsy. Some things to Google for to see if you're interested:

We drove from Estes Park to Las Vegas last year - and hit THREE national parks along the way. There are more along that route to choose from. Your first night, can be the spot in western CO that has the natural hot springs, a little touristy but good and relaxing. Then go on to one or more of the National Parks for hiking, relaxing, etc. You can stay at the Gov't lodges for not much money.
How much longer is spring training for baseball going on? There's more than one park in Phoenix, AZ with teams right now. Phoenix adds to the travel time, personal I would keep it to the area between Bryce and the Grand Canyon.
If you are really up for a drive, then Seattle to San Francisco is a great drive along the coast, but this time of year is a bit rainy.
*Note* I don't encourage Las Vegas but it was an endpoint for a family reunion so we front loaded some adventure before flying out from there.
