I want to see an independent film: The Polymath, Or The Life And Opinions Of Samuel R. Delany, Gentleman.
While I live in Washington DC metro area and would go if showing nearby, I really would like to purchase this as a DVD.
Does anyone know if it is or will be available in DC area or on DVD?
No answer, but want to thank you for the question.
Had no idea this existed. Delany is one of those authors I find more interesting as a person than as a writer. I always mean to read more, but think the only ones I've ever read was "They Fly at Charon," and some other strange titled one (first in a trilogy I think).
Anyway, no I too will be watching out for this.

Best answer: Another thanks for informing me this exists. Doesn't seem to be a website for the film and as it appears to still be making the rounds of (particularly) LGBT type film festivals it might be early for DVD (if it is even sufficiently mainstream to get a release).
Searching around I'd guess keep an eye on this festival, doesn't seem like they've established the 2008 schedule yet but it doesn't look like it ran in 2007 so there's a chance there (you could probably call and find out if it's at least in the running).

In case people may be looking for this movie in their venue (or just for general interest), when I was looking for this I found a couple of directories of GLBT film festivals where I found the above - looks like there were a couple in the Minneapolis area in the past but are defunct now, so if this doesn't come out on video I may be SOL.
