Where to stay in Portland, OR

I'll be traveling to Portland, OR, on business for a month in the (very) near future. Any suggestions for great places to stay?
I'll need reliable Internet access, of course, and I'm not really into Extended Stay hotels in general. I'd consider a B&B, but I'm thinking that having "my own place" to set up in might be a bit better, getting-things-done-wise. (Recommendations on what constitutes a fair rate for temporary housing in Portland would be a big, big, bonus.)

I'd call this a double post, except that it's a triple.

Oops, I'm dumb. You're looking for more than those threads went into. Please ignore me.

I was in Portland for the better part of a week a couple of weeks ago, and was told by several local residents that renting a furnished apartment for a single month was a $1500-$2000 propositionI'm thinking about spending a month there myself sometime in the next year, once a few things fall together.

If I was having my expenses covered on an extended stay in pdx, I'd stay at the Ace Hotel in a heartbeat.

Will you be working downtown? If so, I would definitely recommend the Inn At Northrup Station - it's a hotel, true, but it's a smallish hotel and all the rooms have full kitchens - and several of them have decks. It's right on a couple public transit lines and the streetcar, so it'd be easy to get around. It runs about $100 a night, but you can probably work a deal for a longer stay.
Rents in Portland can be a bit steep - what's your budget?

Portland Hawthorne Guesthouse looks like it fits your requirements. Haven't stayed there, though.

My Mother in Law stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn near Lloyd Center several times when visiting for extended periods (before we had extra room for her).
It's conveniently located, especially if you're working downtown, near the first stop in fareless square on the Max. The rooms she stayed in were all nicer than a typical hotel, with full kitchens and plenty of room to sleep/work/live. There's both a mall and movie theater within very, very short walking distance (it essentially neighbors them). There are also a good number of independent restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and stores a slightly longer walk up the street (4-5 blocks).

Response by poster: Thanks to all who replied. We've decided on a temporary setup via craigslist. Inn at Northrup looks great, as does the Ace Hotel -- though they're probably both a bit out of our price range.

I can't really tell you what a fair price for a furnished apartment is here (unfurnished - $600 for an apartment on the eastside, upwards of $1200 for a fancypants place in the Pearl District), but you might find something that sounds good on craigslist.
