Where can I find cheap but well built reproductions of mid-century modern furnitures?

Most of the manufacturers are way too expensive for my budget since I'm a young professional. Even Design Within Reach is a bit too expensive for me. The only option I had found is Dania. How is the quality of their furnitures? Do I have other options?

Thanks!

White on White is pretty well know in NYC for this, but the quality is really hit or miss. I would advise staying away from upholstered items you would want to last more than a few years...

Have you considered buying used? Estate sales, for example, might be a good bet.

Although a bit dorm room in quality, Urban Outfitters has some cute mid-century knock-offs for cheap.

Also, the Thomas O'Brien collection at Target is pretty decent quality for its price, and it might be worth a browse through overstock.com (this table or this one, for example).

I can't vouch for quality since I am also at the research stage on the same mission, but check out Paradigm Furniture and Ultra Modern for some possibilities.

DIY using ReadyMade?

I've been scrimping to buy DWR stuff at clearance (they used to have a warehouse sale), so I feel your pain. I can't actually recommend ReadyMade from personal experience, as I have enough trouble putting together IKEA furniture.

Second buying used. You can find some good deals on Heywood Wakefield pieces, which are handsome and extremely well-built. And there's a lot of stuff of that era that resembles Heywood Wakefield but isn't, and can be downright inexpensive.

If you are into DIY at all, Handmade Modern by Todd Oldham has some awesome mid-century modern project ideas too.

The problem with cheap, I mean, inexpensive furniture is that you get what you pay for.
