Forcing parrot tulips?

I would like to force parrot tulip bulbs this winter, but conventional wisdom is that such bulbs are difficult to convince to bloom. Do you have advice about forcing tulips? What makes them more likely to bloom,?

Do you have full control of the environment? A grow light?

Providing additional light breaks dormancy. Most effective is 3 hours of light in the middle of the night. Should be started soon after daylength is shortened (21 September). In this way, plants will continue to produce flowers all the way up to the New Year day, provided enough humidity and nutrients are given.

Are they in existing pots? I'm thinking a period in the basement in the cool and dark early in the late summer would let them 'sleep' a bit and then reproduce spring weather, well watered, the right fertilizer, warming up with lots of light.

Recently bought bulbs may take a year to settle and actually bloom, so if you have currently potted or bought in pots may make a difference.
