Short story about woman convinced she is materializing stigmata?

I am trying to remember the author and title of a short story in which a female professor is convinced that she is periodically having stigmata appear on her palms (and possibly her feet, I'm not sure). Can anyone point me to the author, title, and the book in which the short story appears?

Mariette in Ecstasy by Ron Hansen is a short novel about a young woman developing stigmata.

It's a nun rather than professor, but your description reminded me of Agnes of God.
