Tech upskilling

Can you recommend me some podcasts/ebooks/apps/etc that are aimed for intermediately skilled people who want to learn more about the tech industry, the internet and programming?

I started a job recently at an ISP. I'd really like to learn more about related subjects to help me get further in my current position (customer service/tech support) and to help build solid future career prospects in the broader industry. I was thinking of getting a tablet and loading it with ebooks, podcasts, apps, etc that I can use during my commute.

Some parameters:
x. The more easily digestible, the better. I'm quite knowledgable about some things, and completely clueless about others. Big, complicated topics broken down into simpler pieces are fantastic.

x. I'd prefer media that I can use offline, so that I can load up my tablet at home and not worry about organising data for the tablet. However, tethering my phone is an option if your suggestion needs some (but not too much) data.

x. My commute is around 45 minutes each way.

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it is a part of what linuxacademy.com offers. They're videos are also available as .mp3's and they aren't cheap, but aren't terribly expensive ($65/3months,). And if you get through the courses, you'll know a huge amount about Linux, AWS, and Chef, amongst other things.
MeMail me if you want more details or examples to see if it will work for you.

It's pricey, but nothing free comes close. Your library might have an online subscription to the O'Reilly library.
