Free birthday stuff? Bring it on!

I'm turning 36 on Monday. I'm tempted to do the cheesy thing for the sake of amusement and take advantage of "free on your birthday" offers - can you suggest some good ones (I know about these)? What was the best free thing you got on your birthday?

A random stranger gave me a whippit on my birthday once. The dude didn't know me and didn't know it was my special day; and while it was at a party, it wasn't one where people were ingesting left and right. He just said "Do you know what this is?" and then handed me one of those plastic openers with the cylinder inside and a balloon on the end, all ready to go. That was probably the best free thing I ever got on my birthday.

The best thing we ever got (for my wife's birthday) was a free night for ourselves and 20 of our friends at a local comedy club. Sometimes it pays to subscribe to a lousy newsletter.

You can get a free meal at Todai sushi. I went on my birthday this year, ate mostly seafood until I was stuffed. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are great, but you can really pig out on all kinds of foods, not just sushi. Crab legs, chinese food, deserts, and much more. Normally, one person costs approx. $25. It's franchised, all-you-can-eat. Here's a link to one in Illinois. I know, it's not Ohio. But maybe someone else will catch this thread and check it out.

It should be mentioned that to get a free meal at Todai there must be a minimum of you plus another person. They won't give it to you if you are alone. They also check your driver's license to prove that it's your birthday.

I got a free bottle of champagne at a bar in Vienna. Also not Ohio, but what are you gonna do.
Usually my friends will also take me out to dinner. While that's not totally free, I don't pay anything.

This is the last year you'll be able to candle up a cake with the contents of a single box, so you should try to find a place with free cakes.

Bill Knapp's gives you one, and, for you, 36% off your birthday meal. The internet assures me these are located in Ohio.

Why not try 'em all. Then do a This American Life piece on it. Perfect.

I can barely think about how sad that makes me - I'll try and focus on the cake instead. Thanks, guys!
