Help identify an auto?

A friend's recent blog post featured a picture of her father standing next to the ol' family car. She can identify the dad, but not the car. I'd love some help. Here's a link to the picture. Thank you!
It's help if we knew the age of the photo, or at least the decade.
Perhaps it's a split window VW?

Response by poster: Sorry. Photo was taken in 1950. She just sent me a clearer view of the back of the car. Hope they watch out for that baby in the driveway!
