What should I do / see in Bucharest right now?

I will be going to Bucharest next week for about 4 days. Looks like I'll be staying at the Unique Hotel unless I'm told I really really shouldn't or there is somewhere that I absolutely have to stay.

Any cool things I should see, eat, do, etc. Looking for tips, etc. What do you remember or recommend?

I like arty things, good food, don't have a lot of money right now.

I lived in Romania from 1994-1995 so my info is probably hopelessly out of date but I really enjoyed the Museum of the Romanian Peasant (their website) and the Cişmigiu Gardens when I was there.

Casa Poporului/Palatul Parlamentului is amazing. Go on a tour. They have them in English and Romanian (and Italian?). Do not visit bancomate/ATMs at night. Drum bun!

Never been to Bucharest (or Romania, for that matter), but you should see if there are any traditional music performances going on, in particular anybody playing the cimbalom (known as the ţambal in Romanian).

Like this guy.
