Seaview, WA for a friend's wedding - do we have to rent a car?

Going to Seaview, WA with my boyfriend for a friend's wedding. We will be flying from NYC. We are car-free, very comfortable with public transit, always take public transit to/from airports even with luggage, but would appreciate some input from people more familiar with the area on whether our non-car-rental plan is feasible or if we just need to suck it up and rent the car. Glasses/contact lenses to borrow in Port Townsend, WA (-1.0 to -1.5)

My partner forgot glasses and contact lenses and is supposed to drive home from Port Townsend (Washington State) today! Anyone in the area have an extra pair of disposable contact lenses she could have? Or glasses she could borrow (and then we'd mail them back)? I believe she has -1.0 in the right eye and -1.5 in the left but probably anything close could help. Thanks.

Killing time between SEATAC and Climate Change Arena

So, I'm off on a weird trip early next month, into SEA early on a Sunday morning, attending a concert in the evening, and then flying back out of SEA the first flight the next morning. I'll be taking the light rail up to Seattle and am wondering, are there any stops along the way I should explore? I have a full day to kill before the show, and will get a day pass for the train so I can get off and on as much as I want. This would be only for the daytime on a Sunday. I could kill an hour or two or more at a few stops heading north, so recommendations for anything are welcome.

Seatac security

I know this must be so dumb, but I never fly anywhere. I will be taking a flight out of my small town (and thus no-line) airport and arriving at SEA. This flight was not booked together with my international flight later the same day. Will I have to stand in any long-ass lines in Seattle? Or can I just go to the gate for my next flight? (I will have only a carryon bag if it matters.) My partner has TSA precheck and I don't want to be stuck in a 2-hour line without him so I want to know whether I should get it too.

Hotels near Downtown Seattle like Tabard Inn in Washington DC?

I’m looking to stay in a unique non-chain hotel in/near downtown Seattle. Something similar to the Tabard Inn in Washington, DC. Budget is not an issue. I’ll be getting around by foot/public transit so parking also not an issue. [more inside]

Best late night transport from Seattle Tacoma Airport

I am arriving around 11 pm at Seattle - And I have to pick up checked luggage from earlier flight. Will need to UBER/Lyft to Marriott Waterfront. Should I put in a reservation for the Uber? Or wait until I am there? Would a taxi be about the same cost? (Long story short— missed flight; I am an idiot.)

Fun dad-teen activities in Seattle (besides the obvious)?

I'm taking my daughter (14) to Seattle for a few days next week and we've already done the standard sights (Pike Place, glass museum, space needle, Pop Culture museum, etc) a few times. We're looking for some other fun things to see/do. We're up for sights, tours, neighborhoods, food, even art classes or things like that. [more inside]

How to get to Seattle from Bellevue, and what to do when I get there?

This coming Sunday, I will have exactly one full day to myself to spend in Seattle before my conference starts. I am staying at the Hyatt in Bellevue. I know there is a bus (and Uber), but what do I do in the city when I get over there without transportation? I am also considering renting a bike (perhaps an e-bike). I heard there was a bike-friendly corridor over to the city. But, again, what to do when I get there by bike? [more inside]

What to do on a one-week work trip to Seattle?

I’m interning at a company and they’re flying me out to Seattle for ~1 week. I’ll be in Seattle from June 17-26, though flying in late at night on the 17th and leaving in the afternoon on the 26th. During the workday I’ll be fairly busy, but the afternoons and evenings should be free! On the 25th, I’m getting a loaded metro card to use for the day but other than that I think I’ll need to arrange my own transportation. [more inside]

Going to Canada on June 1st, with a positive home COVID test today?

Hey all. I possibly had baby COVID back in April, but now I feel sick again. So, I tested, again. This time, I got a solid positive for COVID on my home test. I'm supposed to go to Vancouver, BC, Canada for 5 days, starting June 1st, for a minicavation and to see an outdoor concert. My question - should I go? How many days should I be isolating? How many days does Canada require me to be testing negative before I travel? Is this trip even possible? Thank you. [more inside]

Tiptoe through the tulip festival

We're looking at going to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley. To avoid problems, I'm looking for advice from others who have been before, such as: 1) is it worth it to buy tickets in advance (is the wait long); 2) which of the three farms to visit; 3) other things to know before going (for instance: what is traffic like, generally, which makes one time better than another to go). Mellow swoopy bike trails in the PNW

Where in WA/OR/ID can we go for groovy chill bike trails? You know, smoothish surface, little elevation gain, lots of fun swoopy curves, pretty scenery, and nowhere near any cars? Let's throw in Montana too.

Phone in the US for just two weeks (WA)

I'm going to be in WA for two weeks and need to be connected to cell service. Roaming would be expensive with my provider. Is it feasible to buy a budget smartphone and prepaid SIM for a couple of weeks, or is the cost prohibitive? Where in Seattle would be the best place to look? [more inside]
