Staying in Notting Hill, London for 3 days - what to do, EAT?

We're not huge on museums, but wouldn't necessarily pass up the British Museum. But what else should we do? mid-June. Using the "tube." Where should we walk? Where should we EAT? We live in NYC and eat in plenty of "good" restaurants so aren't looking for e.g some famous French chef's outpost in London. More "authentic" (what is that, anyway? no idea). Any place you particularly love? Is it silly to take a train to Oxford or Brighton one day?

Recommendations for good record/thrift stores in London

Posting this here as to not threadjack the other London thread, but might anyone know of any good indie record/thrift/book/zine stores (i.e. not pricey and offering items not usually sold at Mainstream Online Outlets e.g. punk, experimental, noise) in the London area? We'll be heading there in October and, while we won't have much free time, if we happen to have an hour or so.... (Not dissing on vinyl, but stores with at least some CDs (less likely to break during travel) would be preferable).

Recommendations for quirky things and cheap hotels in London

We're going to London for the first time in October (just us two, no kids) and I'm looking for a cheap hotel that's close to transit, preferably a tube station. Also, aside from stuff like the Tower of London, do you have any recommendations for quirky or occult/esoteric themed stuff that might be a little less touristy, like odd museums or bookstores? London in April?

My wife and I will be in London for work in April. What can we do on nights and weekends? Difficulty: I don't like touristy, "you pays your money and you takes your look" kind of stuff. More inside on what I do like. [more inside]

Should I delay my London UK trip because of Brexit?

I was thinking of spending a couple of weeks in London in May. I've been following the Brexit news in a superficial way but I don't have a good feel for what is likely to be the impact on travellers from North America. What's the worse case scenario? What's the likeliest scenario? What kind of disruptions would be reasonable to expect? I haven't booked my flight or AirBnb yet but will probably need to soon.

Not tired of life, ergo not tired of London

The future Ms. Ubiquity and I will be vacationing in London from Boxing Day through New Year's Day. We both know the city well, and would be happy to spend the time revisiting the British Museum, the V&A, the Tates, Westminster, the Palace and the Parks, etc., by day and the theatres by night. But what is there new or unusual that we might not have seen? [more inside]

Where to stay in London — 2018 "Hipster-ish" Edition

Can you suggest a place to us to stay in London? Essentially we'd like the Bushwick of London: good food, good Tube access, not terribly touristy, not so hip that I want to murder everyone (so not Williamsburg-esque!) [more inside]

London temps in-between

I’m going to be in London from Aug 11 to Aug 26, and I’ve looked up the predicted high and low temperature for those days. I’m wondering what outerwear I should have with me for the evenings. If the high for several days is about 24-25 C and the low is about 15, what should I expect around, say, 8 to 10 p.m? It would be helpful to have either a temperature or advice on what to wear over my daytime clothes.

London, for those who have been to London before

I'm heading out to London next week and looking for some suggestions - I was there just this last September and have done most of the main touristy things, but am back to visit a friend. I will be staying near Chalk Farm tube station. I will be there five nights so suggestions for day trips and/or overnight trips are also good. [more inside]

Day Trips from London in Late June

I'll be vacationing in London for a week in late June, staying near Goldsmiths College in the southeast. I'd like to get out of the city for a day to see some of the surrounding area. I'm especially interested in medieval and Tudor period history, modern art, and nature walks. Happy to take the train or rent a car for the day, and looking to spend no more than about 2 hours of travel time each way.

First-time international travel tips + London recommendations?

I'm going to go see a show in London in mid-May, and it will be my first time really traveling internationally (not counting a cruise that didn't really count). I'll be traveling solo. I'm generally pretty well-organized and low-stress about travel planning, but could use some advice from seasoned jetsetters for this trip. Specific questions and a recommendation request under the fold. [more inside]
