I have to run an hour-long training session tomorrow from 17:30-18:30 UK time. Originally, I was going to do this from home, but since it was scheduled, I've been booked (by work) to go to Edinburgh. Is there anywhere within half an hour of Waverley Station where I could join a Zoom call for an hour, at this hour (17:30-18:30) specifically? [more inside]

turtlegirl and I are going to hike a section of the Cotswolds in June then visit with some friends (Hereford and Devon) before heading to London a few days before our flight home. We want to get a room somewhere which will allow us to get to Heathrow (relatively) easily, BUT we also want to be able to get into the city for a few meetups with London-based friends. [more inside]

I'm in the UK and I've booked a cheap hotel for a couple of nights in another UK city. I've paid the booking but the hotel wants a deposit and when I try to pay it my card gets declined. I've tried to email the hotel to ask about paying the deposit by cash on arrival but no response. I should be able to cancel the booking and try elsewhere but that might be more expensive by now. What should I do?

We have booked a walking tour for the north section of the Cotswold Way in June (21-27) of this year. The tour company handles the inn bookings, and will transfer any luggage we won't be carrying while walking between inns for us. We are looking for suggestions for things to see and do along the set route, especially in and around a few of the small villages where we will be staying. We will NOT have a car. More inside... I need help choosing a London neighborhood to stay in. One of my tripmates is a first time world traveler so I want things to be perfect! The ideal neighborhood would be: charming/beautiful/quintessentially London, with lots of informal/unpretentious but good food options, close to a reasonably accessible tube station (some steps are fine but not an excessive amount). And ideally, an easy no-transfer tube ride away from a fun neighborhood where the rock music lover can escape a few nights after everyone else goes to bed (I was thinking Brixton but am open to suggestions). We are visiting the country in October: spending a few days in Edinburgh, then riding a fancy train, then upon disembarking would like to stay out in a cottage or castle for a couple days to decompress. We do not want to rent a car so we are looking for lovely locations within an hour or two train/bus/ferry ride from Edinburgh. [more inside]

We are going to the London Eye this afternoon for a treat and want to eat really well afterward in a place with great atmosphere that actually has availability-- with 2 kids. It is a treat so fancy is OK if kid-friendly. Walking distance would be great but can also take bus or Tube. Any suggestions? Thanks!
