Package sent EMS from Thailand now MIA.

I mailed a package to myself via EMS from Thailand to Ireland. Several weeks later it hasn't arrived in Ireland, and the tracking info is saying that it's still in Thailand, apparently being held there for pickup?? Can anyone explain what this tracking info means and what I should do now? I'm having trouble getting in touch with EMS and I don't speak Thai. [more inside]

Thailand, including babies!

This Christmastime, as a side excursion from another trip, my family is going to Bangkok and Hua Hin, for a few days each. "Family" here includes my infant son, who will be about seven months old, as well as my wife and in-laws. Huzzah! I now have two related questions. [more inside]

What do I do in Bangkok when I can't really DO anything?

I am in Bangkok for another week and a half. I've been here 18 days already and have been confined to my hotel recovering from surgery. It was fine, but boring, but now my fiance has had to return to the US ahead of me, and I find myself wondering if I can keep it together and maybe even have some fun while here. I've been cleared to leave the hotel as of today, but can't go far. I'm also having anxiety and some post-surgical depression (that's a thing, right?) that's making me wonder what I can do in this situation to stay sane? [more inside]

Thailand Travel Pros: Bangkok, Samui, PhiPhi. Is Angkor too much?

Traveling with an international travel newbie...is Angkor Wat too much to add to a Thailand itinerary that already includes Bangkok, Samui, and Phuket / PhiPhi? Timeframe: 2 weeks. Also...think more hot-stone massages and less hostels this time around... [more inside]

Is unstructured travel in northern Thailand during high season feasible?

My days of tramping around Thailand are long over so I must turn to Ask MeFi for help. Friends from the Czech Republic want to visit northern Thailand for two or three weeks sometime between this coming December and February next year. They do not speak Thai. It will be low cost holiday, no luxury hotels, no expensive restaurants. They want cheap hostels or tenting, bus or bicycle travel, partake of rural life and culture in the north, eat food from the markets, and perhaps some forest trekking. They are looking forward to an impromptu type of holiday with little planned itinerary. Is this type of trip even feasible during Thailand’s tourist high season? Has anyone undertaken such an unstructured adventure? Was it what you hoped? What downsides did you encounter? Any advice I can pass along would be very much appreciated.

How fast can i get between domestic arrivals and international departures in the bangkok airport?

For those familiar with the Bangkok airport: On Wednesday morning, my flight from Koh Samui will land at 7:05 a.m. , and my flight from Bangkok to Taipei will take off at 8:25a.m. I'll have carry-on luggage only, and a Canadian passport. Will I have time to get from domestic arrivals to international departures in time to check in, get thru security and get on my Taipei flight? (They are two separate tickets.) Alternatively, will it be relatively easy to get on the later flight to Taipei if I miss the first? Its on China Airlines, I have no familiarity with their policies. [more inside]

Avoiding anaphylaxis in Thailand

We will be spending 2 weeks in Thailand (Phuket, Chiang Mai and Bangkok). My wife has anaphylaxis to peaches which has been recently discovered. chiang mai to Krabi: what flights options?? air asia to phuket? discover with Thai airways? other?

Thailand travel planning: trying to get from chiang mai to krabi to Denapasar,Bali as effectively as possible. So far I found these options: use Air Asia to phuket from chiang mai and take a cab for a couple hours to krabi. (to and and back) Use discover thailand fares from thai airways, but they dont have direct flight to krabi, so travel takes like almost the entire day :( Suggestions? travel time would be cnx to krabi 02/22 and krabi to bali 02/25.
