I've never visited Amsterdam, but this week I accepted a permanent job there, and am planning to start on August 10th. I'm incredibly excited but also terrified and a little clueless, mostly because I don't have housing sorted, and I don't have a lot in savings to manage a relocation. How can I make this move as painless as possible? [more inside]

We are planning a week long trip to Amsterdam this summer and would like some neighborhood recommendations. We use VRBO a lot, because we like to stay in an actual apartment in a real neighborhood for many reasons. I'm looking for some advice on narrowing down the areas we should look in. [more inside]

I lived in Amsterdam for more than nine years, moving away about ten years ago. Although I've been back since, I've always had little time to spend. Now, I've decided to give myself some down time over the very long Christmas weekend (Tue - Sun) in Amsterdam. I'll see some friends, but I also intend to spend a fair amount of time alone, by choice. So, what should I do / see / eat - especially if it's something new in the past decade? [more inside]
