Should I purchase prescription glasses in Mexico?

I'm going to be buying prescription progressive glasses/frames at some point in the next few months. I already have the prescription. Is there any cost savings to making this purchase in Mexico. The trip is already planned. If you have any experience with doing this, please let me know the pros/cons of going this route and any other related advice you may have. Thanks.

Chill Coffee Cafe for Creatives in Cozumel?

Third cruise visit to Cozumel coming up. This time the focus is maximum chill and room for creative productivity, (as opposed to adventure, shopping, sightseeing...) Help us find a cafe with the food, the coffee, and the atmosphere to just be who we be, but in Cozumel. Requirements after the break. [more inside]

Do protests in Oaxaca complicate travel there?

The wife and I are considering a trip to Oaxaca. A couple we know who goes there every Christmas holiday (the husband is from Oaxaca) has warned us that travel there outside of the biggest holidays can be disrupted by protests, strikes, etc. that happen pretty regularly there - to the point that it can be very difficult just to get from the airport to the city (or vice versa). Just looking for a second opinion: are Oaxaca protests frequent and disruptive enough that it's kind of risky to plan a trip there not during a major holiday?

Offbeat things to do in Mexico City?

I'm going to Mexico City for a week mid-month, staying in a friend's apartment in Del Carmen. I'm trying to plan a loose itinerary of one thing per day, a mix of must-sees and more offbeat stuff. I'm looking for things to add to the latter category, either in the city or within day-trip distance--music, food, culture, etc. A lucha libre show is one possibility--what about some others? I speak Spanish and I'm comfortable poking around and using public transportation on my own.

Opportunity for travel to Mexico + injury: go or no?

I have an RSI that, with aggressive rest, has finally begun to calm down. It doesn't take much walking to aggravate it right now. I have not been able to find wheelchair rentals in the areas we are traveling to. I can rent a wheelchair in my home city, but am not sure how the logistics of that would work out, hopping three flights. We are traveling with friends, and I am not willing to curb their activities. Woops, that was it back there... Can we just back up?

So, someone I know just crossed into Mexico by car at San Ysidro/Tijuana and didn't pull over at the INM for their tourist cards. Is there a way to get back to the INM office without recrossing the border? Can they go to the INM office at the airport?

Frida Kahlo Museum - photography permit?

Will be heading to CDMX next week and have reservations at many of the main attractions, including advanced tickets at the Frida Kahlo Museum. I read in a couple of spots that you have to have a permit to take photos? Does that include all photos? Or just photos with a camera that is not a phone? And if that is the case (I have an actual camera that I will want to take pictures with), how do I get a permit in advance?

Show me the natural beauty of Mexico

I find myself without a home in Mexico for three weeks so I thought I’d go poke around. I like natural beauty, generally on a grand scale. Difficulty: I can not leave Mexico, and I’d prefer to stay out of the western areas for safety reasons.
