Staying warm in Iceland: footwear?
Heading to Copenhagen for the first week of March, and Iceland for the second week. Activities in Iceland will include a glacier walk, ice cave visit, some hiking, hopefully gazing at the Northern Lights. I’ve found some packing lists, and I’ve got my wool base layers. I’m uncertain about footwear. I would like to only bring one pair of footwear, so I’m not sure if they should be hiking boots or winter boots or...something else? I care more about being warm than about being stylish, although if there’s an option to incorporate both into one that would be great. If you have any recommendations for waterproof, windproof top layers that you’ve tried out in these conditions, I’m all ears as well. Also: can one fly with hand/foot warmers (the air-activated kind) in their carry-on?

Reykjavik Restaurant Recommendations
We're leaving for vacation next Thursday and will be in Reykjavik for two days. Need a couple of restaurant recommendations for dinner for Friday and Saturday night (June 16 and 17). Casual is probably better than fancy. I am dairy-intolerant. The hot dogs are already in the plans as lunch.

where can I drive near Reykjavik
As part of an upcoming trip, I'll have a 25 hour layover in Iceland. I land at Keflavík airport at 3:30pm and leave the next day at 4:50pm. I've reserved a room for the night in Reykjavik and have rented a car. Where should I drive? Is this enough time for the Golden Circle? [more inside]

Two Days In Iceland
Our summer vacation this year is taking us to Amsterdam by way of Iceland thanks to the cheap airfare packages Icelandair runs out of Logan Airport. We will have two days to spend in Iceland before continuing on to our final destination. Help us figure out what we can realistically fit in to that all-too-brief window. [more inside]

Strolling in Iceland: looking for short, flat, remote, and scenic trails
We are a small group of photographers spending 2 weeks in Iceland. For us, somewhere that feels remote is way more appealing than checking off the can’t-miss attractions alongside everybody else. However, this is in conflict with our hiking ability: the group can handle moderately rough trails (no scrambling, but some loose rocks are fine), we are probably OK with up to 2km round-trip per hike, but hills are a problem (please, no more than 30m elevation change.) Just like everybody else, we’re driving all around the island, including the westfjords, and have a (questionable) 4x4. [more inside]
