Zika Virus in Brazil: Still Unsafe for Pregnant Women?

We just found out that my wife is pregnant! Yay! The tricky part: She has a work trip to Rio coming up next week (the trip has been scheduled for awhile now). We’re not sure if she should cancel (which would cause a non-trivial amount of issues for her company) or forge ahead and be careful to avoid mosquito bites! Any advice? [more inside]

How widely is Spanish spoken in Brazil?

I'm pretty proficient in Spanish but do not speak Portuguese. I will be traveling to various cities on the coast of Brazil. How well will I be understood in day-to-day transactions (e.g. restaurants, taxis, etc.) if I speak Spanish? I can get the gist of written and some spoken Portuguese, but lack the vocabulary and grammar to initiate conversations in that language.

If I have Global Entry do I need a visa to go to Brazil?

I bought a really cheap fare to Sao Paolo for Christmas. And I was expecting to have to get a visa at some point to go. But then, when I had some downtime from work, I got Global Entry approved. And now I read that Brazil is a part of Global entry. Is it? Or will it be by Christmas? And do I still need to blow $130 bucks and a day of running around to get a Brazilian visa?

Inexpensive housing in São Paulo for the world cup (6 weeks)?

I'm looking to go to Brazil with my male friend for about 6 weeks (from about June 1 to July 15). We'd like to rent a room, apartment, house, shared house, hostel for relatively cheap (preferably under $500 per person). It seems like if we go outside São Paulo city center we can get cheaper prices, how should we go about looking? I am aware of Airbnb and couchsurfing.com Thanks
