Outlook for mac- randomly switching between classic and web app version

I use Outlook on my Mac (downloaded as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription). Recently it changed from the classic version to the new flat, bright web-app version - I think it happened when I downloaded the Teams app (which I hadn't used before). [more inside]

Is there an email client for Mac that will help me regain my sanity?

Like a lot of people, I get an enormous amount of work email every day, and it's completely overwhelming. Right now, I'm using Gmail's webapp (with some Outlook email also forwarded into it; I have some problems getting attachments in my work Outlook account, so I usually use Gmail instead). I want to switch to a desktop app for the Mac. [more inside]

Mac woes

This seems like a simple thing but I can't find the answer online, so I'm relying on the collective wisdom of y'all. Please help - should be a simple one! My macmail keeps sending emails as if they are coming from one account when I wanted to send them from another account. In the macmail app it looks like it's been sent by the correct account, but in people's inboxes it's a different story. This is really messing with my conversational threads and bad for client management. More detail inside... [more inside]

Looping GIF plays only once in email client or browser

I've created an animated GIF in Photoshop for Mac OS X that was set to loop forever. If I view it in Quick Look it loops forever. If I send it to someone in Messages it loop forever, both for me and the recipient. If I send the GIF in an email (Mail app or Gmail web mail) it plays once and doesn't loop. If I open the GIF in a browser (Safari or Chrome) it plays once and doesn't loop. Any way to fix this? [more inside]

How to keep mac Outlook 2011 folder structure after reinstallation

I will be reinstalling mac OSX Yosemite because of constant problems with it but I am looking to retain the folders that have been previosuly created to organise my mails. I am using Outlook 2011 as my mail client. Does using: File - Export - selecting outlook for mac data file (.olm), when imported back, retain the previous folder structure that I have used to organise my mails? If not could anyone suggest how I could keep the existing folder organisation? Many thanks!

Alternative to Simplyfile for Outlook on Mac

I'm helping my dad with his transition to Mac from PC, and there's one big piece of the puzzle missing. He's planning on using Outlook on the Mac (since he's used it for years on a PC), but would love a filing system like Simplyfile. While there seem to be a lot of filing systems for Apple Mail, I can't seem to find a good one for the latest version of Outlook for Mac. Any advice, hive mind? [more inside]

Help me not get fired, Metafilter!

Some really horrible stuff was going down at work. I took absolutely no part in it, and even acknowledged that it may not be legal. I did this all over email, and even received responses back acknowledging this. I was explicitly threatened that if i wasn’t going to be a part of it, then i was to “forget about it or lose your job”. So recently, they all got busted. And like a bunch of cowards, they all blamed it on me. And because I’m the low girl on the totem pole, it looks like I might have been the one doing all this stuff (without ANY proof). But I have proof! [more inside]

I need to send an email to ~1500 people. How do I do it?

I'm launching a Kickstarter campaign tomorrow, and I have around 1500 people to email. How do I do this simply? I'd like the emails to come from my personal gmail address (and not DONOTREPLY@Mail1000.com or something), and if possible, I'd like to customize the emails such that they refer to each person by name (I have everyone in an excel file at the moment). If relevant for potential software/plugin solutions, I have a Mac and a Wordpress site on a good server.

Use Exchange. Not too much. Mostly unobtrusively.

Create a pseudo-block in Apple Mail

Is there a way, in Apple Mail, to set a filter that will immediately move an email to the trash AND send an auto-response to the sender, stating that his email has been blocked/rejected? Flagging it as spam is not an option--I want to never even see the message, and I do check my spam occasionally for false positives.

Apple Mail.app list selections (and deletes!)

Apple Mail.app question: I'm setting up a friend with Apple's Mail (mail.app 3.5 on Leopard 10.5.5). Everything is great -- it works like a charm. Except for something that is different than his old client (AOL for Mac -- ack!): When a message is selected, and you delete it, the selection moves "UP" the list, selecting the *prior* message, not "DOWN" to the *next* message. This is exactly the opposite of AOL and Outlook and other mail clients. Anybody know of a terminal hack on defaults write or another way to swap this behavior? [more inside]
