What was this compilation of children's poems and stories?
When I was younger, I had a book that was poetry and stories for children. Poetry included poems and illustrations by Edward Lear; the stories included "The Carp in the Bathtub," a Pecos Pete? story and possibly an excerpt from "Anne of Green Gables." The stories were illustrated. I have Googled this to death, tried looking up books via Library of Congress online, no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Looking for children’s books that tell a non-standard narrative
I’m ordering 300ish books for a children’s library. After reading this thread asking for books featuring feminist-anti-racist-queer-ally characters I realised that our collection is full of books focusing on straight, white (usually male) youth in nuclear families and it’s seriously lacking. Can you folks recommend any books to help me improve our collection? [more inside]
Help remembering title of a book I had as a child - 1970s
It's driving me crazy - the book was about fishing/fisherman and featured dark linocut illustrations. I think the cover was blue and black. My recollection is that the tone of the book was sad. This was in Canada, early 1970s, if it matters. Help!
kids' book in which princess and family move out of castle and have to rent all houses on a street to hold their stuff
I am looking for a chapter book I read as a kid in the 1970s/1980s in which a princess and her family have to move out of their ancestral home and instead rent all the houses on a street to hold all their things that used to be in the castle. It was kind of an adventure/mystery story after that, I think involving something with the family possessions. Anyone know the title of this book please?

Time travel to New Amsterdam - for kids!
Going bonkers trying to remember the title of a favorite children's book that I read growing up in the late 1960s. The story takes place in NYC and the main characters are 2 children, a boy and a girl. The children stand in the first car of a subway train and as the train moves faster and faster through a Bowery tunnel, the children travel back in time to NY when it was New Amsterdam. They meet Peter Stuyvesant and other characters in Manhattan when it was a Dutch colony. Sound familiar to anyone?

Name that scary story for young adults
I'm looking for a young adult collection of ghost/scary stories I read in middle school (1980s). It was illustrated by Edward Gorey and contained a story about a young girl who discovers a creature of some sort living in a quarry near her home. She becomes obsessed/infatuated with the thing and frequently visits it. I remember strong sexual undertones in this story. [more inside]
