How to attach skateboard straps to a backpack?
Based on this: no one ever addressed the skateboard strap element in their answer. Barring someone knowing of a better suggestion for that, what’s the best way for me to add or attach skateboard straps or bungee paracord things? I ended up getting a backpack and it has some places for attachments and stuff. How would I go about doing this?
What I am doing wrong in new adult friendships?
I (35 y.o. hetero cis f, married) met a guy (36 y.o., hetero cis m, single) through work whose company I really enjoyed. We both expressed that we would like to grow a friendship with one another. I made it clear to him that I am married, and discussed everything with my hubby so that everyone was on the same page. My new friend and I decided to meet up outside of work, and it was kind of weird. Since then it's been radio silence from him. What is going on here? [more inside]
logistics of divorce/separation
My wife and I are probably headed for a divorce. I know the first thing to do is to talk to a lawyer, but like, there's a lot of other stuff, and I just don't know how it would work. Stuff like moving out, money, etc. [more inside]
HOME FARM FOOD MACHINE starting points plz
My spouse and I have a neglected backyard of approx 10' x 30'. We do a lot of canning and preserving and some fermenting. We have a budget for a winter project and we're pretty handy. We know basically nothing about gardening. We live in northern California (no snow, lots of sun exposure in the back). We want to build a "home farm food machine" to max out the calories, vitamins, nutrients we can grow! Gardeners of AskMe, what starting points would you recommend for us? What are good examples of this kind of system? [more inside]
How do I need to maintain this concrete countertop?
Over a year ago, we moved into a house with a mottled, matte concrete countertop, probably sealed with penetrating sealer. We've just been cleaning it with vinegar/water or with general purpose cleaning sprays. It's developing wear but so far seems okay. But I see recommendations online to periodically wax and seal concrete countertops. What's really necessary and why? [more inside]

Sites like xovain?
I'm looking for sites that can help to replace xovain in my heart: a focus on beauty products and techniques, with a little snark and an approach that is friendly to those of us who need tutorials aimed at non-beauty professionals. So far I have found Byrdie and HelloGiggles' beauty section, which is where xovain redirects now. I want the focus to be on beauty products as opposed to wellness. Thanks!
Explain facials
I have a gift certificate for a "hydrating facial". I have no idea what a facial is. Insight and advice is solicited. I'm old; do no skin care or makeup. Before I make a call to them (not any website available for review) how do I navigate this unknown world?

Best way to tag & filter poems, ideally in/across MS Word or gDocs?
Is there a good way to tag and search/filter MS Word or gDocs docs (in this case, poems) by a few criteria, e.g., author, time period, tone, subject matter? I want to be able to tag and then search for a doc with "carson," "modern," "humorous," and/or "pottery." I'm interested in a tagging/search mechanism, and not in search criteria. Additionally, I'm not searching for one poem I already have in mind but rather I want to serve up all the poems in my collection that are "x" "y" and/or "z." [more inside]

Finding a new job: Explain Like I'm 5
I am tentatively looking for a new job. I have never really looked for a job in my adult life -- I got lucky and have been promoted and worked my way up the ladder at the place I was hired at straight out of college, and even that came from a summer "internship", where they hired me because I was the kid of someone who worked here. So now that I decided that I want to explore new opportunities, I do not have the skills to even know where to start. Help! [more inside]
Cord cutting: explain it like I'm five.

Friends saying mean things?
I am a woman in her 30s. My friends, also women in their 30s, will occasionally say things that I find very hurtful. I know how to handle this in romantic relationships but not so much in non-romantic contexts. When should I say something, and what should I say? [more inside]
non-industry-specific troubleshooting
I used to do software support, and I really liked it. Now that I'm looking for a new job, I've got a bit of free time, which, in addition to job searching, I'm using to teach myself how to do random stuff. I'm finding that my troubleshooting background is coming in handy for a lot of things (e.g., cooking, figuring out why my kid is crying). I want to know if there's a general guide to troubleshooting that's not specific to a certain product or industry. [more inside]
Where can I find high-quality visual art tutorial or process videos?
I'm looking for videos that show how artists create visual art, namely collages, printing, and painting. Either step by step tutorials or video of people making art are what I'm after. I would prefer that these be fairly accessible for a person without fancy equipment or tools, although if I'm compelled enough, I could buy them. I am a novice artist. Thanks!

What are your favorite beginner's guides for the care and keeping of houseplants?

After walking away from America, how does one come back?
Okay, a friend of mine went off to teach English in China like 5 or 6 years ago. She was seriously suicidally depressed and decided she needed to change everything about her life. Everyone was shocked but supportive. She's remained alive because of this.
But the way she left is causing her to think she can't come back and none of us know how to help. [more inside]
How to Pseudonym in Non-Fiction Book Publishing, by A. N. Onymous
I've had an idea for a zeitgeist-y non-fiction/popular-science book. Well, it could be considered a polemic in addition to a fact-based piece of writing. Think something in the realm of politics. In light of the current political (read: troll-infested) environment, however, I have GRAVE concerns about using my real name. BAD PEOPLE will NOT like the book or me one bit. [more inside]
How did you (YES, YOU SPECIFICALLY) pay for grad school?

Help Me Makeup
I'm a grown-ass woman (48 in a couple of weeks) and I have no idea how to wear make-up. I just never really learned. I don't like wearing it and only do it for rare special occasions, maybe twice a year or so, and whenever I do I realize that I don't really know what I'm doing. I have decided that this is unacceptable at my age, and so I turn to the sage wisdom of AskMe. [more inside]

Making professional(ish) quality printed wall art from start to finish.
My boyfriend is having a housewarming party about a month from now, and I thought of a really fun idea for some wall art. I know some shops on Etsy take commissions, but for my own curiosity, I'd really like to know about the steps, tips/tricks, and overall process that I, as mostly tech-literate but otherwise digital-art-making-and-printing layperson, might take to create a solo or very limited run digital art print that I can frame and give as a gift. Help me not look like a garish bridal hobo clown!

'natural' ultra-white face makeup: 101-level application instructions?
My Halloween costume is just a regular old undead sort of demon: black eyes, horns, and a very white face. I have no makeup application experience whatsoever. Can you help me figure it out? [more inside]
Help Me Recreate Amazing Migas!
When I was in Monterey I had a tex-mex migas like I'd never seen and I've always wanted to recreate it at home. it was the traditional tex-mex migas ingredients (tomato, bell pepper, onion, egg, cheese, tortilla chips) but it came out standing whole and firm, not unlike a flan and it cut like one - moist but really sturdy, not falling apart, almost like a quiche? The non-egg stuff was diced superfine and just melted into it. How did they make this and how can I do it at home? [more inside]
Meditation resources that are neutral on religion
Partner and I are interested in meditation and mindfulness. I am a Christian and partner is an atheist. There are a lot of resources on atheist meditation and a lot on Christian meditation. Learning to sew on a vintage sewing machine
This recent post about picking a sewing machine has inspired me: I followed advice similar to this answer and bought a newly reconditioned sturdy metal Singer 301A a couple of years ago. Calling all web-designers: How to make a choose-your-own-adventure site?
I've got an idea for a website I'd like to do - I want to create, together with my website visitors, a sort of "choose your own adventure." I would set up the story up to a point, then the people who visit the site could come up with ideas as to which way the story would go. The top three up voted choices become the next part of the adventure, which I then flesh out. I would update once a week; this just sprung into my head, and it sounds like a cool creative project for me to do. I also have a talented artist that would like to contribute. Unfortunately, I have no experience in web site design, and am lost as how to begin.
Please help me learn how to design a website so I could set up this kind of project! Details inside. [more inside]
Help Me Get This Awesome Entry-Level Marketing Job!
I know I'd be an excellent fit and have similar experience to the job listing. I've worked for the experiential marketing company through which they're recruiting for and I did really well on my first program, earning two top incentives and a really good starting reputation with the company.
Can you help me get this position by taking a look at my relevant experience and helping me frame it in an appealing, successful way? Can you give me tips on how to stand out from the thousands of applicants? Is anything about the way I've written my experience confusing/bland (other than the intentional vague-ening of the details, of course)?
Please help me! Thanks so much. [more inside]
