Same Levi's, Different Body
I only wear Levi's jeans, and I've worn 514s forever (I like that they are simple, comfy and classic, and have a slim leg but it's not super-skinny and tight), but metabolism/being 49/beer has changed my body and they way jeans fit me at the waist (they fit lower now!). Can anyone who's had lived experience with this issue suggest a similar Levi's style to 514s but with a waist that's a bit higher...but not so high that I look like a Dad from 1996? [more inside]

Where are the reasonably priced women's 100% cotton jeans? The last pair I had came from Madewell but the only all-cotton jeans they have now cost $495. Is there some kind of denim aggregator out there that will let me sort by fiber content? If it matters, I think I am looking for straight or "boyfriend" jeans without any shredding and whatnot. Ideally under $150. Just, you know, jeans. Like from my youth in the 1980s.
Can I safely shrink a denim sherpa jacket?
Just got this jacket. My true size was too tight in the arms so I sized up, and now it's a little bit too big all over. (Damnit, Levi's sizing.) I've been able to shrink denim jackets in the wash before, but this one is sherpa-lined. Washing instructions say to wash cold and lay flat to dry. Is it possible to safely shrink this without messing it up?

I want this exact dress, but as a blouse (not dress length). Before I buy the dress and spend money on getting it altered to be a blouse, can anyone find a match? I saw this overall jumpsuit (or jumper?) and I desperately wish to recreate it, as closely as possible. Mouthwash on denim - blot or wash?
I spilled mouthwash on some jeans and I am traveling. The spot it left is the size of my hand. I want to wear them again in a few days and I have already blotted the area with a wet washcloth. Do I need to wash the spot with soap? The mouthwash (generic blue listerine) has sorbitol in it but the main ingredient is alcohol.

Why'd I lend clothing to a man named Rip Torn?
I have several pairs of blue jeans which have ripped in the posterior section by the left pocket after about a year's worth of wear. Here's the damage: Pants #1 and Pants #2.
My hackish, non-seamstress attempts at mending these rips utilized a needle and thread, repeating the stitch across the rip multiple times, but this repair tends to fall apart in the wash after a wearing or two. The jeans are otherwise in fantastic shape. I recall as a little kid deploying iron-on patches on the inside of ripped pants, but this didn't work so well and eventually came loose. Does anyone have strategies to get these rips effectively mended? I have a Jo-Ann Fabrics store on my corner where I can purchase supplies.
