Zoom kids birthday party tips
First time quarantine birthday for an 8 year old. What have you seen that resulted in an actual fun party instead of a zoom mess of kids talking over each other? I also need to know what options exist for keeping a medium size group going on zoom for 2-3 hours while not hitting the free time limits. Recommendations for entertainers that perform over zoom also appreciated. [more inside]
summer prepping, COVID-19 edition
I am of the opinion that the second wave coming soon due to premature reopening in many states will be an unmitigated disaster, and many states are going to turn into New York. I feel we are in a brief bubble of respite due to SIP. How are you preparing for the summer mess? I'm assuming it will not be a good idea to go anywhere during the second wave, but am not assuming any complete collapse. What are you stocking up on and attempting to prepare? I know reopening could be done reasonably safely with lots of contact tracing and testing but I don't see the USA getting it's act together at all.
Bunker parenting and scheduling sanity savers
We are a couple who are both working from home at rather demanding jobs. We count ourselves to be very lucky, both still be employed and healthy, but going slowly crazy managing parenting/teaching small kids and work. We have tried various schedules but without constant supervision it's hard to corral them. A lot of useless articles are filled with time-spending activities to do with your kids at home as if you had ample spare time. We feel bad since we are doing poorly at our jobs as well as parenting. We know most parents are in the same boat -- what tricks, websites, and methods have you found that has eased your lockdown life? We are not in a position to hire a live-in nanny. School and daycare are doing zoom meetings which is helpful but are more things to schedule during the day.
